It was Halloween night, 2015 when we met at the second best of Senegal’s two Radisson Hotels. Unwittingly, we’d both been living and studying aboard Semester at Sea’s M.V. World Odyssey for almost two months without having ever crossed paths. For Tom it was love at first sight. For Savannah it was love by...March. In 100 days we visited 11 countries, ~25 cities, 4 continents, and 3 hemispheres. In that time, we fell in love with both travel and each other (ugh, barf, I know).

 

Swearing up and down that we would keep international travel a priority in our relationship, we did exactly what you’d expect and DIDN’T GO ANYWHERE FOR 7 YEARS. Tom started teaching, Savannah kept nursing, and in the summer of 2020 we tied the knot. Like most couples who got married at the height of the Coronavirus, we politely uninvited 200+ people from our wedding and resentfully canceled our honeymoon in Santorini.

 

Six months later the airlines issued us a full refund just as our landlords decided to sell. No home, no kids, and use-em-or-lose-em travel credits? What else were we supposed to do? TRICK QUESTION. We quit our jobs and relocated every 3 months so Savannah could work on the front lines of the pandemic and Tom could achieve his dream of having literally anything more than a film degree (aka he went back to school).

 

As we learned to earn, save, and strategize our spending we mapped out an itinerary of 100 cities we’d like to go to or through in pursuit of that 2015 feeling.
